Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the topping:
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a doughnut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the apple cider, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. While the doughnuts are cooling, prepare the topping. In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  9. Once the doughnuts are completely cool, dip each one into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, coating both sides.
