Description

A simple and delicious dessert featuring tender baked apples filled with a warm cinnamon and oat mixture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the apples. Core them, leaving the bottom intact to create a well.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and nuts (if using).
  4. Stir the melted butter into the oat mixture until well combined.
  5. Spoon the oat mixture into the core of each apple, pressing it down gently.
  6. Place the apples in a baking dish. Pour the water into the bottom of the dish.
  7. Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
  8. Serve warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute maple syrup for brown sugar for a different flavor.
  • A scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream makes a great topping.
  • Ensure the bottom of the apple core remains intact to hold the filling.
