A simple and delicious dessert featuring tender baked apples filled with a warm cinnamon and oat mixture.
Ingredients

- 4 medium apples
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the apples. Core them, leaving the bottom intact to create a well.
- In a small bowl, combine the rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and nuts (if using).
- Stir the melted butter into the oat mixture until well combined.
- Spoon the oat mixture into the core of each apple, pressing it down gently.
- Place the apples in a baking dish. Pour the water into the bottom of the dish.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute maple syrup for brown sugar for a different flavor.
- A scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream makes a great topping.
- Ensure the bottom of the apple core remains intact to hold the filling.
