  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain off excess grease.
  3. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and diced green chilies.
  6. Stir in chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  7. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. For deeper flavor, simmer for 1-2 hours.
