- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

- For the topping: 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- In a small bowl, mix together the 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon for the topping.
- Roll rounded tablespoons of dough into balls.
- Roll each dough ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Place the coated dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

- For extra chewy cookies, underbake them slightly.
