Description

Tender and flavorful mushroom-topped hamburger steaks.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  2. Form the mixture into four patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove patties from skillet and set aside.
  5. Add mushrooms and onion to the skillet. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Return patties to the skillet and spoon the mushroom mixture over them.
  8. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until heated through.

Notes

  • For a richer sauce, you can add a tablespoon of butter with the mushrooms.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or your favorite side dish.
